About
I invented the FresherVent™ because I was getting a septic smell in my new house laundry room when the clothes dryer was running. I plugged a floor drain, sink and toilet in a bathroom adjacent to the laundry room. The sewer smell then occurred in the next closest bathroom. I tried running the air exchanger while the dryer ran, but the smell persisted because the air exchanger exchanges air at 1:1, it does not increase air volume into the house. The solution was to open a window in the laundry room while the dryer is running. Opening a window is inconvenient and does not prevent back flow. The window was usually left open, making the room cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
I wanted something that would automatically open when fresh air flow is needed, and close when air flow stops.
What I discovered after using the FresherVent™ was shower steam dissipated faster, clothes dried faster in the dryer, and the kitchen exhaust fan removed smoke efficiently. I no longer use my air exchanger, because fresh air is drawn in whenever needed, and only when needed. The air is not preheated, as an air exchanger does, but I found my house was warmer and more comfortable because air wasn't randomly exchanged. I installed a FresherVent™ in my parents house and the first thing they noticed was condensation on windows did not develop in cold weather. They previously had condensation running off windows that caused black mildew stains on the wood window frames.
