Modern houses are built to heat and cool efficiently, but to do this they are well sealed. This creates a major issue with exhaust ventilation.

If exhausted air is not replaced, indoor air pressure drops resulting in drafts that typically flow into a house past windows, doors, wall outlets, and potentially sewer drains. When the drafts are cold, condensation often forms.
Clothes dryers exhaust 200 CFM (cubic feet of air per minute), which will empty the air out of a 10x10x10 foot room in 5 minutes. Bathroom fans exhaust around 100 CFM, and kitchen exhaust fans are often over 400 CFM. Building codes require a vent to allow replacement of exhausted air if the kitchen exhaust fan is over 400 CFM.
When household air pressure is low, the house becomes an easier path for radon gas to flow. Radon gas mitigation systems rely on keeping the pressure in a pipe through a basement floor lower than the household pressure.
The FresherVent opens at a pressure drop of .06"WC, and continuously varies. Other make up air vents have complicated electronics that fail over time and require wiring and ducting.
